If you’ve lived in Edmonton for any length of time you’ve heard about the neighbourhood of Bonnie Doon. The name was taken from the Scottish for “Pleasant, rolling country side” way back in 1907. Edmonton and Strathcona were still fighting about who should get to annex it.
- Early Bonnie Doon residents recognized right from the start what a beautiful part of the city they were in. They built the first houses next to Mill Creek Ravine overlooking the stunning Saskatchewan river valley. Of course, the neighbourhood has expanded south and east over the years, especially after world war two, with residential development typical of the time.
- Today, Bonnie Doon has a variety of residential options for home buyers including single family residential, condos and duplexes. Commercial development included the iconic Bonnie Doon Shopping Mall which was one of the first of its kind in the City.
- A nice mixture of age groups from younger families to seniors and singles, gives Boonie Doon an almost “small town” feel to it today. It’s a very walkable community with excellent transit services throughout. It also enjoys many, many recreational facilities and opportunities. The shopping, dining and lifestyle activities provided along Whyte Ave. are second to none.
- The average listing price is right around $525 thousand but that’s offset with the large number of listings available in a wide range of prices. Whether you’re looking for a single family listing, a condo or maybe an in-fill opportunity, our real estate experts can help you discover the property you’re looking for.
