Back in October, Cory Clendenning jetted off to Africa to hike up Mount Kilimanjaro with the hopes of raising $10,000 for The Mustard Seed. After sixteen days abroad, and five grueling days on the mountain, Cory is back at home after successfully reaching the summit and raising $8,000 towards his goal.

Cory had spent months preparing for the physical challenges of the climb, but it was the mental component that proved to be the much larger challenge. The weather on Mount Kilimanjaro is varied and unpredictable, and the drastic changes in climate combined with physical exhaustion took its toll on him after a few days.

For most people, spending five days in one of the harshest environments on earth would seem absurd. But Dale Temple is not like most people. 

On November 14, Dale will be travelling to Morocco alongside a team of adventurous Royal LePage realtors as they embark on a 100-kilometre trek across the Sahara desert. The trek is part of an initiative called the Sahara Desert Challenge for Shelter, which aims to raise $1 million for The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. Each trekker has to raise a minimum of $5,000 in order to participate, all of which goes directly to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs across Canada.

Cory Clendenning, one of our realtors at Royal LePage Noralta West, will soon be trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for The Mustard Seed, a non-profit that strives to alleviate poverty and homelessness by providing food, shelter, and care to vulnerable communities. His goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of his trip, and he has already raised nearly $4,000.

Cory will be funding the entirety of his trip out of his own pocket, so all of the money raised will be going towards helping The Mustard Seed in their day-to-day-operations: providing food to the homeless, distributing warm winter clothing to those in need, and transitioning vulnerable people into affordable housing.
